Sunday July 17 2022 Hubble Field action.

A somewhat hot and humid day did not stop the action at the field.

Don did a great job with my iPhone capturing some of the craziness as can be seen in the video below.

Lots of near misses and other exitement. No serious mishaps, just enough to keep it interesting.

The sky was pretty busy at times, so dog walkers got a good show.

The field is in great shape, thanks to Jay's hard work.It is great to have a nice turnout of pilots and friends. This is prime season, stay tuned it will only get better as the summer turns to fall with nicer temps.

Sunday July 10 2022 Hubble Field action.

As we all know take offs are optional but landings are not.

We had some interesting landings today at Hubble field as can be seen in the videos below. I had a Bunny Hop Special with the BA Hawk, all is well with the Red Hawk.

I also bent the nose gear on my F16 hitting the arresting grass on a down wind landing, Joe used the arresting feature as well with his larger F16. Video Below

I gave my favorite plane a good workout for the first time this year, you have to guess what plane I am talking about, it it has a long tail, see video below.

It was a perfect day both for gliders, jets and props as Kevin and I was hunting for some thermals. They were definitely there as we had several 180 degree wind changes, especially on short final it seemed.

Joe also demonstrates wind effects on T/O with his gorgeous Mustang. Jay stole part of the Mustang video by upstaging the Mustang with some Viking aerobatics, and later demoed another interesting quick stop on landing.

I added a few more videos from this Sunday flying as you can see the skies were pretty busy.

Great to see Jeff and Becky at the field again as well. It is turning out to be a great summer season for RC at Hubble Field.

Sunday July 3 2022 Hubble Field action.

Good action today at the field Jeff was down from Guildhall Fun Fliers with his F22 among others as well.

We had to deal with some wind but basically it was a beautiful day, pleasant temps and a healthy breeze, gusty at times.

No major accidents to report. The Paratroopers even got in a few jumps.

Here are a couple iPhone videos of some of the action.

New Drone rule:

TRUST is a collaboration between the FAA and industry to provide TRUST and educational safety material to Recreational Flyers.
The test can be taken here:
https://trust.modelaircraft.org

The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST)
What is TRUST?
The law requires that all recreational flyers pass an aeronautical knowledge and safety test and provide proof of passage if asked by law enforcement or FAA personnel. The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) was developed to meet this requirement.  TRUST provides education and testing on important safety and regulatory information. If you fly your drone recreationally under the Exception for Recreational Flyers, you must pass the test before you fly.  TRUST was developed in collaboration with drone stakeholders to determine content, and how it would be administered. Since June 2021, we have worked with a group of approved Test Administrators to provide TRUST as an online test. We in the FAA provide the TRUST content to the approved test administrators who, in turn, provide the online test to you, the recreational flyer.
Before you fly your drone
Note: If your drone weighs more than .55 pounds (lbs), you must register your drone through the FAA's Drone Zone.
To fly your drone as a recreational flyer, it’s as easy as 1-2-3
  1. Understand recreational flying requirements
  2. Take TRUST
    • You may take the free online test through any of the FAA approved test administrators.
    • All FAA-approved TRUST test administrators offer the test free.
    • All test questions are correctable to 100% prior to issuing your completion certificate.
    • After completing TRUST, you'll need to download, save or print your completion certificate.
    • If you lose your certificate, you will need to re-take TRUST.
    • View a list of TRUST Test Administrators
  3. Receive your certificate
    • After you pass the test, you will receive a certificate from the test administrator you selected.
    • Test administrators will not keep a record of your certificate. You must present a copy of your certificate if asked by law enforcement officers.
